The FORD WSS-M15P34-D standard, developed by Ford Motor Company (FORD), defines minimum performance requirements for interior decorative trim components with a multi-layer structure. This standard includes requirements for both applique/decoration suppliers and manufacturing part suppliers.

The mentioned standard is used together with another FORD standard, “FORD WSS-M99P1111-A Standard requirements for production materials”.
A wall sconce is a decorative element or overlay that is fixed to a vehicle surface or structure to add style or to functionally cover parts of the vehicle that are not aesthetically pleasing, or to create a type of weather seal. Traditional sconces are made of metal or plastic. For example, a column sconce for use in the column area of a vehicle. The column appliqué includes a surface portion and a thermoplastic elastomer portion. The face portion and the thermoplastic elastomer portion are each formed by injection molding, and the thermoplastic elastomer portion may be injection molded onto the surface portion during this process. In this way, the two parts are glued together without the need for additional adhesive.
Generally, trim components include upholstery and structural components, open-cell foams, closed-cell foams, melamine foam, natural fibers, fabrics, and adhesives. New technologies provide the necessary materials, ranging from reducing vehicle weight and costs to improving acoustics and functionality. These materials are often also used in interior decorative trim components, such as appliquéd interior trim pieces. For example, car door appliqués are used on door panels to give them an aesthetic look. Most plastic parts used in automobiles are developed through injection molding. Many defects occur in plastic part production, and it is necessary to design the part and evaluate its performance considering potential defects.
In general, interior trims are all parts of the vehicle that are decorative rather than functional. Its primary purpose is to make the interior of the car a comfortable and warm environment.
Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, also provides testing services to determine the performance of interior appliqué parts within the scope of FORD WSS-M15P34-D standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
