In the ISO 12219-1 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), a specification for the determination of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and carbonyl compounds in the indoor air of road vehicles is explained and a test method is defined.

There are three measurements performed under this test method:
A constant irradiation is used in the entire vehicle test room to simulate the average solar irradiance.
This test method is applicable to the measurement of non-polar and slightly polar volatile organic compounds in a concentration range ranging from six micrograms per cubic meter to several milligrams per cubic meter. Some semi-volatile organic compounds are also analyzed using the principles stated in this method.
The sampling and analysis method for formaldehyde and other carbonyl compounds is carried out by collecting air on cartridges coated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine followed by analysis by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) detected by ultraviolet absorption.
These test methods apply to passenger cars.
The ISO 12219-1 standard includes:
Our organization also provides testing services for the determination of volatile organic compounds in the interior air of road vehicles within the scope of ISO 12219-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
