JIS D2605 Automotive Parts - Rubber Cups for Hydraulic Brake Cylinders Using Non-Petroleum Based Hydraulic Brake Fluid

JIS D2605 Automotive Parts - Rubber Cups for Hydraulic Brake Cylinders Using Non-Petroleum Based Hydraulic Brake Fluid

The standard “JIS D2605 Automotive parts - Rubber cups for hydraulic brake cylinders using non-petroleum-based hydraulic brake fluid” developed by the Japanese Industrial Standards organization (JIS) describes the requirements for molded rubber cups and seals for master and wheel cylinders for automotive hydraulic brake systems using a non-petroleum-based brake fluid.

Other standards corresponding to this standard are the following two standards developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO):

  • ISO 4928 Road vehicles - Elastomeric containers and cylinder seals for hydraulic brake systems using non-petroleum-based hydraulic brake fluid (service temperature maximum 120 degrees)
  • ISO 6118 Road vehicles - Elastomeric containers and cylinder seals for hydraulic brake systems using non-petroleum-based hydraulic brake fluid (service temperature maximum 70 degrees)

Rubber containers shall be classified as follows:

  • Class 1 Suitable for operation at normal temperature
  • Class 2 Suitable for high temperature operation
  • Class 3 Suitable for operation at extra high temperatures (the application corresponding to this class is not specified in international standards)

For quality purposes, the cup surface should be well polished and free from harmful bubbles, defects, burrs, foreign matter, etc. The performance of cups when tested in accordance with this standard shall meet the requirements given in the table.

The performance of the containers is given in the table based on the following criteria:
