The standard “PSA D45 5525 Plastics - Resistance to scoring by the Scribe test”, developed by the PSA Peugeot Citroen group, describes a method for characterizing scratchability by whitening body and cabin equipment made of thermoplastic materials.

This test method is in principle carried out on the surface of a test sample by a scratch test with 2 points at a distance of 12 mm from each other. The scratchability of the material is assessed by measuring the more or less distinct visibility of the points and, in particular, the change in gloss.
Major equipment used in these tests includes:
Samples must be representative of the size to be characterized. To ensure this representation, it is necessary to know the basic characteristics of the population under study. The selection criteria for the samples must be specified in the test report, the content of which is defined in standard A10 0156.
When preparing the test specimens, they must be planar. For a standard bench (Erichsen 239/II) the dimensions of 55 mm x 55 mm are limited. The thickness should be between 1 mm and 5 mm. In case of Erichsen 450 or 430P benches, larger size test specimens are used. The dimensions must in all cases allow the test specimen to be completely immobilized between the clamping platform sets of the bench.
Test samples should be pre-packaged in the room for at least 24 hours and should be free of dust. Starting from the material or part to be tested, three test samples of equivalent pellet size are prepared.
Application is made on three test samples respectively.
In case of using a standard bench (Erichsen 239/II), determine the tricolor coordinates using the spectrocolorimeter and make three measurements according to test method D15 5083. These measurements correspond to the initial values. The test sample is placed on the mobile sled.
In case of using an automatic bench (Erichsen 430P), the tricolor coordinates are determined using a spectrocolorimeter and determined by making three measurements according to the test method D15 5083. These measurements correspond to the initial values. The test specimen is placed between the clamping rings to the right of such centers so that the free left surface is sufficient for the writing test to be carried out and thus prevents separation from the sheet during the displacement of the centers. The clamping is carried out by approaching the rings until the test specimen is completely out of the way.
Among the numerous testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies that our organization has provided for businesses in various sectors, it also provides certification and testing services defined in the “PSA D45 5525 Plastics - Resistance to scoring with scribe test” standard with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
