The environmentally friendly recycling process describes the entire process of producing recycled material from automotive parts collected by Hyundai and Kia Motor companies' closed-loop recycling system. This process consists of crushing, removing the painted coating, cleaning and hardening, and restores its original properties without additional environmental pollution.

In the table titled “Authorized recyclable automotive waste” given in the standard, the authorized recyclable automotive waste by type and the content of recycled materials (percentage by weight) are given as follows:

  • Type A: Rear bumper rear beam (minimum 20 percent) / PP-based end-of-life automotive parts (minimum 30 percent)
  • Type B: Rear bumper rear beam (minimum 20 percent) / GF reinforced PP based end-of-life automotive parts (minimum 30 percent)
  • Type C: PP-based end-of-life automotive parts (minimum 50 percent)
  • Type D: Rear bumper rear beam (minimum 15 percent) / PP + low viscosity PP-based end-of-life automotive parts (minimum 35 percent)
  • Type E: PP-based end-of-life automotive parts (minimum 50 percent)

In terms of general requirements, parts using this material must comply with all requirements of the relevant assembly performance specification. The chemical composition and processing conditions that may affect the quality of the parts should not be changed inappropriately. Before changing the chemical composition of the material, it is necessary to consult with the material and quality departments. The final parts made of this material should be free from defects, uneven gloss, burn marks, warpage, silver lines, cracks, uneven color, flow marks, weld lines, sink marks or other defects.
